FASHION JUNQUI: Get Your Teen Spirit Back With Grunge Style

6 Oct

”We have to wonder if Kurt Cobain would shudder knowing that grunge has gone haute couture. After all, this movement was born as a way to detach from an uptight society and express discomfort with the status quo, which is not exactly in line with the hefty price-tags and hand-detailing of high fashion. Flannel shirts, ripped jeans, and lacy dresses paired with combat boots are what immediately come to mind when one thinks of grunge, but today the look is all about juxtaposing luxe with low-brow, masculine and feminine, construction and deconstruction. To channel your inner Courtney Love (minus the crazy), throw a flannel shirt over your favorite ultra-femme dress and pair it with some chunky, well-worn boots, textured tights, and cinch with a wide leather belt. Sure the angst may be gone, but we’ll be happy to keep grunge in fashion long after we’re done smelling like teen spirit. “-By Lisa Eppich

FASHION JUNQUI: Sheer Genius

FASHION JUNQUI: EGYPT

Slightly see-through tops, skirts, and the like are not the most original of trends, but stylish nonetheless and trending big time for Fall/Winter 2011.

Today lets talk about the skirts. A sheer skirt can add interest to your look and add pretty, swirling layers. Just be sure to wear something underneath and make sure your skirt is longer, because, well, we all know a see-through miniskirt is bound for trouble. Geared towards winter they look fabulous.
